Pick the model year, the make and the model — or type the 17-character VIN from your insurance card, registration or the driver-side dashboard.
We ask the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for every recall campaign filed for that car. A VIN is read only for its make, model and year, and is never stored.
Campaigns where NHTSA says "park it" (don't drive it) or "park outside" (fire risk) come first, then the newest. Each shows what is wrong, the risk, the free fix and the campaign number.
Whether YOUR car's repair is done is only in the maker's records: enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see.
Not covered here: meat, poultry and eggs
The USDA keeps those recalls, and its site blocks automated reads, so we don't copy them. Check the USDA's own list.
