Editorial standards
The newsroom

Every edition, Lab Note and story line on HeyHomees carries the byline “HeyHomees Newsroom”. This page is what that byline stands for: how we choose stories, how Homee reads them, how we check what we say, and what we do when we get something wrong.
Who we are
HeyHomees is owned and published by HeyHomees LLC, North Carolina, USA. The HeyHomees Newsroom is the byline for the work of our editors and our software together: editors set the rules of every show — what it covers, in what order and at what length — and can take any edition off the air; the software gathers, ranks and reads the stories under those rules.
We do not do original reporting. The reporting is the outlets’ own: we choose it, condense it, read it aloud and link to it, and every story names the outlet that reported it.
What we publish
- Editions — Local News for your state and National News: short narrated rundowns of the day’s stories, presented by Homee, our on-air guide.
- Story lines — the line an edition read about a story, shown on that story’s page with the edition it aired in and a link to the outlet that reported it.
- Lab Notes — researched notes on what AI labs release in the open, published at 7:00 am Eastern on weekdays, each with its primary sources.
- Data and tools — rents, rates, gas prices and air quality by state, and family-finance calculators, each figure with its source and the date it describes.
How stories are chosen
We read local and national news outlets around the clock, state by state. A story makes an edition when it matters to a family where you live: it is new, it changed, it crossed a line that matters — a price, a rate, a vote — or it reaches your household.
A story airs once a broadcast day: one that aired in an earlier edition is not repeated in the next. We would rather run a short edition than fill time.
Sponsors never touch which stories air, their order, their words or the fact-check.
AI-presented, never AI-generated
Homee is an AI presenter, and the voice you hear is synthetic. We say so because you should know.
Every line Homee reads is written from a real story that an outlet reported, and the story it came from is linked. Nothing is invented: no fact, name, quote or number that the story does not carry.
Before an edition is voiced, each line is checked against the story it was read from, and a line that says more than the story supports is rewritten to the story’s own headline. Rule checks catch what no listener should hear — leftover markup, run-on lines, profanity — and record a verdict for every edition. An editor can hold any edition; a held edition comes off the air until it is fixed or replaced.
How figures are checked
Numbers come from their source, not from a writer: mortgage and auto-loan rates from Freddie Mac and the Federal Reserve (through FRED), gas prices from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, rents from HUD’s Fair Market Rents, and market levels from published market quotes. Every figure we show carries its source and the date it describes.
We call something a move only when it crosses a line we set in advance, and a change that rounds to zero is said as flat. What Homee says and what the screen shows come from one selection, so the two cannot disagree.
In Lab Notes, every figure is checked by code against the model card, paper or release it came from before the note is published; a line whose figure cannot be found there is dropped.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. The corrected edition, note or page is changed in place, and the correction — what was wrong, what is right, and when we changed it — is listed on our corrections page.
